PAS 301 - Armored Handling Standards

Armored Vehicle Handling – Braking and Acceleration Standards PAS 301

As we have mentioned before, armored vehicles are designed to absorb the initial burst of fire, maintain the capability to drive out of the ambush, protect the occupants from the threat, and function in hostile environments while maintaining some level of performance. All vehicles, including armored vehicles, have specific characteristics that define their performance.

However, not many people know that there is a standard that outlines test methods that can be conducted on a civilian armored vehicle (CAV) to evaluate its automotive characteristics for payload, acceleration, maximum speed, handling, braking, and run-flat. This standard is known as PAS 301.

Decoding a Tire Sidewall

What the Numbers on Tires Really Mean and Why They Matter

To find out about the tires on your vehicle, look no further than the tire’s sidewall. As a security driver, the quality of control you maintain over your car is only as good as the tires that the vehicle rolls on. No other component on your car is as susceptible to time and the environment as the tires. You are relying on your vehicle’s tires every day. So, you should know as much about tires as you do about vehicles.
